A little hat fun

We can't believe McKenna is 8 months old already! We had a little fun with a hat and thought we'd take a few pictures. I think some of them turned out pretty good.

I think they turned out OK considering I'm impaired when it comes to taking good pictures!

My remaining two brain cells

I think I really only have two brain cells left.............and they're fighting each other.

Today was a great day. The news today came through that I am going to be able to work part time for the foreseeable future.....and they're going to give me an increase too. Translation: we can keep Matt @ Cornerstone for school, not change the schedule for the girls, AND I get Tuesdays and Thursdays free ! How ecstatic and grateful am I.

However, the kids have been sick. McBaby has had a cold for three weeks, has developed a sinus infection and can't sleep AT ALL at night. So I've been up with her a lot lately. Not complaining, because I'm grateful for the snuggle time, just really tired. Matt has a raging ear infection and hasn't been able to sleep either.

So combine no sleep and the stress of trying to figure out if we can reduce hours and survive, or have to work full time, and you get a messy mommy.

Case in point: after work today, I got in the car. Started it up and went to switch on the headlights. It took me 5 minutes to figure out where the headlight switch was......on a car that I've been driving FOR 3 YEARS! I think I've lost it.

Cupcake

Meghan & I made a quick trip to the grocery store for a couple of things.

As we walked over to get sourdough bread from the bakery, we passed by the cake case. She grabbed my face in her two tiny little hands and said to me "I love you, but I LOOOVVVVEEE cupcakes" with a ton of emphasis (and volume!) placed on the love cupcakes part.

I will say that I stayed tough and didn't come home with any cupcakes....but I kind of wanted to just because she was so adorable about it.

On Top of Spaghetti

The PTF held an oratorical contest. Each elementary student was to choose a poem to present, dressing the part and also having props. Matt chose "On Top of Spaghetti".

We worked really hard turning plain white pants & white t-shirt into spaghetti with red, orange and brown spray paint. I then took 50 feet of nylon cord and glued it ALL over his shirt. We also constructed a meatball & tomato sauce tree (it's a REALLY good thing I kill plants!). It was really fun working on the projects with him......and he got a kick out of it.

He placed second in the contest...we're so very proud of him. You can find video of his presentation here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFKk2_wCAtg

"Little" Meghan

So we're "back" so to speak. Things have been totally insane around here, but the kids are growing up so fast.

Miss Megs got a dollhouse for Christmas this year. She's been playing with it almost every day and it's so much fun. The family has a grammy, a mom & dad, an older sister, a younger sister, a brother and a baby. Of course, she's named them after our family...e.g. the younger sister she calls "little Meghan", the baby is McKenna, older brother is Matt etc.

It turns out that "little Meghan " is Miss Meg's evil twin. Meghan kept touching my work laptop and I asked her not too. She grabbed "little Meghan" and made her touch the keyboard. I asked her not to do it again; this time she said "Meggie didn't do it. Little Meggie did it. Little Meggie needs a time out".

Miss Megs and her "evil twin":

See - even McKenna fears "little Meghan". Come to think of it, her head does spin around.

In case you see her on a "missing" poster, here "she" is:

"Yes" day

We decided to enjoy my last weekday of freedom by having a "yes" day. What is yes day, you might ask? It's a day where the things that the kids ask for that are typically answered as no get to be a yes. So today, they wanted mini chocolate chip pancakes & sausage.....which does not normally fly on a weekday morning. Then we went to Child's Play, an indoor playground and played all morning. Had an "all-yellow" lunch (chicken nuggets, corn, bananas). Still up: the festival @ the Storm Stadium tonight and who knows what for dinner.

Poor little McKenna's still too little to enjoy, but did manage to sleep through the noise from ALL those kids screaming. To try to even it out a little, here that crazy-haired baby is:

Our little patriots

We kind of did our own little 912 project -- mostly because I worked on 9-11 and was too exhausted by the time I got home to do anything. I think these happy faces just might embody what Glenn Beck was getting at (e.g. as united as they get!)
