Someone needs a break

Normally we love this time of year but the last two weeks have been really tough. Poor little Meghan has been really sick for the last two weeks. Poor kid - it all started two weeks ago Friday with what I thought was a case of the hiccups that caused her to lose her breakfast.

Sadly, this was not so.......had a bit of throwing up that day and had the, well, we'll be nice and call it the "descending" cleanup crew that started two weeks ago today. Didn't think too much about it for the first two days. A week later I started to freak out -worrying about the usual stuff - dehydration, weight loss etc. Finally took the kid to the doctor and it's viral and he says it could last another week.....UGH! I've changed more diapers, sheets, towels, and spot cleaned and done laundry more times in the last two weeks than I have in my entire life. So we start giving her acidophiles to try to put good bacteria into her tummy to try to short circuit the virus. Good news - we haven't had any nastiness in that department in 48 hours.

So you'd think we'd be on the mend, but the poor kid came down with a cold on Monday too. Ok, no biggie, no rookie parent here. We're working on pushing fluids anyways, so throw in setting up the humidifier and voila, solved. Not so much - the poor kid starts refusing to eat or drink yesterday so we know something else is up. Yep - ear infection.

So a trip to the pharmacy, added some augmentin to the routine and we should be mending. One little problem - she can't sleep. Not anytime - not nap time, not nighttime.....the last straw sort of. Last night she went to bed at 9, woke up at 1 and stayed up until 4:30, went to sleep and woke up again at 6. Thought she'd take a good nap but no, she fussed for an hour and ended up taking an hour nap......not long enough but enough to make for a very cranky toddler who kind of wants to eat but doesn't want anything you offer her.

Whew - ok, got to vent so maybe that'll get the bad germs/attitude out of here. Here's to tonight, hopefully I won't see the sun rise. Tomorrow is a new day :-). Oh, and here's to all of us moms who nod our heads and empathize when we read less than positive blogs!!

I totally feel your pain, we were driving to the ER last night at 11 with Gavin. He's been puking and now is suffering from dehydration...I think he is finally on the up swing but the rest of us are all spiraling down:( Merry Christmas to us!:-/
