So yesterday the air conditioner kicked on at 8:30 and we were in the car on the way to the beach at 8:35. It's like Mother Nature slept in late and just flipped the summer switch. Yesterday it was 104 here.
We decided to go to Oceanside because of the alleged ample parking, however it took a good 20 minutes to find a space because the Internation Surfing Foundation was hosting a competition. All good though - thank goodness for those lovely loading zones! Matthew is a fish - after once more series of swim this summer he's determined to surf. I am determined to learn with him (and probably humilitate him too!). Not too many pictrures exist of Matt this trip as he wouldn't stay in one place or out of the water long enough to get a pic. Meghan loved the water (as long as she could stay out of it) and playing in the sand (as long as she could sit on her beach towel and dig through the towel). The kids got slathered in sunscreen while the adults did not. I am a poached lobster (i manged to even burn my ears) and Manny is so cool he's wearing sunglasses even when he's not!
There's just something so holistic and healing about the beach......someday we'll be living (or retiring around 85) on the coast! The kids had a ball and both of them passed out and took a great nap. So another thing to be grateful for!!!
