How we roll

So things around here have been pretty funny but really busy. Just for posterity and so that someday the kids will see how much we try to make sure everything's covered, a recap of the last week.

Last Thursday Meghan has her two-year well-child check. So I take her to the doctor in the morning, take her to school and fly to work. I skip lunch because Matt's got open house at school and we decided Manny would keep Meghan home and I'd take him to school that night. Of course the class was singing for everyone (which I didn't know about), so Meghan & Manny missed it and I had no camera.

Saturday went to see Vinny & Adie & kids off to Israel - had a ball and wish them the best. Came home, kids to bed, and sure enough Meghan starts barking at 2 a.m.

Sunday run Meghan to Children's urgent care (the second Sunday in a row - was there with Matt the prior Sunday). Get a scrip for steroids to get rid of the inflammation. Doc warns me that it tastes really bad and orders extra because kids have a tendency to throw it back up. Sure enough - give her some and it comes right back. It took diluting it with a little sugar, some M&Ms, and a Pinkie Pie sticker to get it down. But it stayed down.

Monday I stay home and work from here when I can and take care of Meghan.

Tuesday I come down with the bug and have no voice. I work from home again as Meghan's tummy starts bothering her. I take a conference call at 2 with no voice....gotta love it because we got that call finished in 15 minutes when it was scheduled for an hour. We start Matt's homework and there are a few sheets that Manny nor I understand, so I have to email his teacher for help....how embarrassing is that??

Wednesday I go back to work and Mom stays with Meghan. I've been putting off my glucose tolerance screen so I stop by the lab on my way in to work.....that had to be the slowest hour waiting for blood to be drawn in history. Wednesday night as I'm giving Meghan a bath we discover that we have a plumbing problem in the house. I unplug the tub and it won't drain, and instead the toilet starts draining & gurgling. We're thinking someone did an "experiment" with the toilets.

Today rolls around and luckily Meghan went back to school. She moved up to the next class and loved it. Luckily it was a relatively normal day....worked all day and flew home. Got an answer on Matt's homework. We're finishing his homework and he has to write a sentence using his spelling words. So for the word this, his sentence is "This is how I roll". Manny & I almost peed our pants laughing.....and nope, we didn't make him change it. I hope Mrs. Jones forgives us! Next, we had to find a rock. They are doing a Crosswalk where the entire school recreates Jesus' walk to the cross. Each student brings a stone to the cross and writes their name on the rock and any prayer that they wish to share or offer. So we have to find a suitable smooth rock but one that's just the right size. We go for a walk after dinner figuring that we should be able to find one outside. We see TONS that are just right, but they're all in peoples' yards that we didn't know. Long story even longer, we end up absconding with a rock out of a neighbor's front yard....someone please tell me that doesn't morally defeat the whole purpose of the exercise! We stuffed the contraband in the hood of Meghan's little push car (gotta hide the evidence) and slink off home.........so that's done.

Oh - and today Manny was working and all of a sudden the toilet starts gurgling (this time in our bathroom). Hogan jumps up out a dead sleep and walks into the bathroom. Manny follows him and Hogan stands there looking from the gurgling toilet to Manny and back again. All of a sudden water comes bubbling up out of the bathtub and it scares Hogan and he jumps up two feet in the air. I'm thinking we've got a problem here considering both bathrooms are doing funny things.

Geez - no wonder Manny & I are so tired!!! So those are the chronicles of this. You know - truthfully most of this is funny in a way.....am looking forward to the weekend......gotta get Matt some new short-sleeved shirts because he's outgrown everything, he needs a haircut, we're down to 3 diapers in the house and next week starts closing. And Spring Break. It's crazy but I think Manny & I have laughed harder today than we have in a long time. I love this little family!
