Matt started VBS this week (that's vacation bible school - basically summer camp every night this week with a Christ-centered theme). It's a really neat camp with really fun games, crafts etc. that runs from 5 - 8:30 every night this week. Manny worked it last year and loved it so much he decided to work it again. So the boys are both basically gone from 4:30 on every night until 9ish.
Shouldn't be a big deal, right? It's just Meghan, McKenna & myself. I'm a weathered parent, I should be able to handle it. Monday night went OK. A little hairy at bedtime but I pulled it off.
Tuesday night different story. McKenna had some sort of tummy issue and was extremely fussy. Meghan was really cranky for some reason and only wanted to watch the same episode of Little Einsteins over and over and over again. So somewhere between the two, I called for reinforcements and ordered pizza & nuggets for delivery, which I never do. I did manage to get Meghan in the bathtub even with a squalling baby. It's interesting though - the only way I could put Meghan to bed was if I put McKenna in the Baby Bjorn so that I could have two hands to lift Meggie into her crib, slather her face with A&D (we've got some sort of dry skin thing going on), and rub her back for a few minutes. Unfortunately that's usually when we get some peace around here, but poor McKenna was really unsettled. Make matters worse Manny called from VBS to tell me that Matt was starving so back into the Baby Bjorn poor McKenna goes so that I can whip up something for Matt to eat after VBS. In the midst of all this (it's now 9 ish), I realize that I hadn't even had a chance to use the bathroom all night. Poor Manny - when they walked in I think I tossed the poor baby in the air to him at I flew down the hallway.
So yes, hairey carey yesterday was an option. Thankfully for me my mom came up today to not only take McKenna for her two-week checkup (side: how the HECK can she be two weeks old already?) and gave me the nicest gift ever: time to take a nap! I got a 2-hour nap today.....so maybe I can wrangle the two girls tonight with a little more reserves.
McKenna is doing well, went to the doctor yesterday. She's grown an inch already, is 3 ounces above her birth weight. She's in the 90th percentile for height and 75th for head circumference and weight. It's funny, she's the first baby who is higher in percentile for height than weight. The other 2 were such little butterballs. OK, so McKenna is too but at least she's got some height!
The only bad news is that she's really stuffy all of a sudden. I'm really hoping and praying that maybe she just picked up the cold the kids had last week and of course I have now (her doctor says this is possible) and that it's not a sign that she's going to all of the sinus problems that poor Meggie had. I just don't know if I can deal with that again, but if that's the hand we're given we'll roll with it.
No more whining mom - people do it every day and survive!
Finally took some more pictures of McKenna, hopefully some of the whole family taken this weekend!.JPG)

She is absolutely adorable! I wish we were closer and I would snuggle her for you:) I could use a little baby fix. Hang in there and I'm sure the insanity will soon become normality. If anyone can do it I know you can!! Love you!
She is a doll--I love the bow! I echo Taryn's comment--wish we could see her. Are you up for a trip? ;)
